Library checkout rules

The Guild offers the items in its library for the educational enjoyment of its members. The Librarian is responsible for bringing library materials to the monthly meetings where they can be checked out, returned or renewed. Library privileges are subject to the following conditions:

1. Only members in good standing (have paid their annual dues and have no outstanding debts with the Guild) may checkout materials from the library.

2. All materials checked out from the library will require a deposit of $25.00 per item. This deposit is designed to ensure the prompt return of materials and to cover the cost of their replacement in the event they are lost or damaged. Deposits may be made in either cash or by check (checks should be made out to "Minnesota Woodworkers Guild"). The Guild's Librarian is responsible for keeping deposits. The deposit will be returned to the borrower when the items are returned and checked in. Materials brought back damaged (e.g. an erased videotape, a cracked DVD) will result in deposit forfeiture.

3. Materials may be checked out for a period of one month, or the time between consecutive Guild meetings in the event a meeting is not held. Failure to return materials within two months will result in forfeiture of the deposit, which will then become property of the Guild. Return of the item is still expected. Library materials may be returned by anyone, although the deposit can only be returned to the borrower unless arrangements are made with the Guild Librarian.

4. The borrower is solely responsible for all of the items checked out to them.

5. Members may request that the Guild Librarian mail materials to them. The member must pre-pay for postage and pay a $5.00 non-refundable handling fee in addition to the deposit mentioned above. The borrower is responsible for return mailing of the materials. The deposit will be mailed to the borrower upon return of the materials. See the Librarian for more information.

6. The borrower may renew materials as long as no other member has requested those materials.

7. For VHS tapes, please rewind before returning!

8. Failure to follow these rules will result in the member's library privileges being revoked.

Please note: the Guild will gladly accept donations of woodworking-related books, magazines, plans, CDs/DVDs, and VHS tapes. Please see the Librarian for more information. Thank you for donating!
